This replacement facility for the Sni Valley Fire Protection District provides all the essential functionality of a modern fire station and fire protection district administrative office for today and years to come. Three drive-through bays accommodate the department's full range of fire and EMS apparatus. The bays provide adequate space for today's larger apparatus with ancillary space for self-contained breathing apparatus, hose drying equipment, gear wash and medical service supplies. Facility air quality is improved through the use of apparatus bay filtration units and whole-bay ventilation to remove exhaust. The residential area features six firefighter bunkrooms plus captain's bunkroom, gender-neutral restrooms/showers, day room, kitchen and fitness room. The district administrative area includes a secure reception office, offices for District leadership and conference room. WSKF also designed an 850-square-foot training room that is structurally hardened so that it also serves as a safe room for shelter in severe weather. To minimize maintenance costs over time, the design team incorporated highly durable and no- and low-maintenance building materials such as prefinished wall and roof panels, aluminum doors and windows, porcelain tile, solid surface countertops and xeriscape landscaping.
