WSKF's renovation of the overall Kansas City Kansas Community College outdoor sports complex included major upgrades to the soccer field and track and field facility. The new soccer pitch is a full-size regulation field (350 feet by 250 feet) with artificial turf meeting FIFA standards. Day or night games are possible thanks to a new lighting system by Musco, a premier lighting provider. Fans can enjoy practices or games from new bleachers that provide seating for 400. The bleacher system is designed so that seating can be expanded to 600. Track athletes now train and compete on an 8-lane, 400-meter all-weather premier surface track. The track meets NCAA standards, allowing athletes to establish certifiable competition records at KCKCC. Field facilities include long jump, triple jump and pole vault with irrigated natural turf around these event areas. Plans for future additions include javelin, discus, shot put and hammer throw. The track facility allows for the electronic recording of events while spectators are kept updated on event results via a new outdoor speaker system. There's also a new concession and restroom building nearby at the south softball field. Use of the track by residents for walking and running was also a consideration. New turnstiles provide access to and from the track while new fencing around the soccer/track and field facility better manages access. Additionally, the site was master planned for the eventual relocation of the tennis courts to the south site with the current tennis court area being re-purposed for field events.
