In collaboration with Wilson Estes Police Architects, WSKF Architects completed a Public Safety Facilities Needs Study for the City of Pittsburg. As a result of the study, WSKF was commissioned to design a new facility to meet the full range of needs for police and court functions. The facility provides space for crime investigators, communications, detention, and expanded space for the courtroom and courts records storage. The facility also features a new area designed for the secure processing of male, female and juvenile suspects from intake through court. A state-of-the-art evidence area allows for secure processing and storage of evidentiary material. WSKF's design allows the courtroom to also function as meeting space for the City Commission and other public bodies. Judges awarded the project the Award of Excellence in the category of New Construction in the Kansas State Building Awards sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Kansas.
