WSKF Architects Leading Team for Sioux Falls Public Safety Master Plan

WSKF Architects was recently selected to lead a multi-discipline team to complete a master plan for the Sioux Falls’ fire and police training campus.

The WSKF Architects team will complete an assessment and master plan of the training campus with a focus on meeting the long-term training needs of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Sioux Falls Police Dept. and the numerous other local and regional agency users of the training facilities. The existing campus includes a live burn tower, classroom/administration building, search and rescue house, collapse structure, multiple-prop training ground, driver skills course and a firing range.

“We are pleased to be the partners for the City of Sioux Falls and their public safety agencies as they make this investment in ensuring their training facilities provide the functionality and versatility to meet their training needs over the coming decades,” says Rick Kuhl, the WSKF Architects principal who leads our public safety design team. The project also includes an assessment of the City’s fire stations and their locations as well as other analysis of delivering public safety services.   

The Sioux Falls master plan is the latest example of how WSKF Architects continues to build on our standing as one of the leading designers and innovators of public safety facilities across the central U.S.   

At the same time construction is starting on a new $15 million campus designed by WSKF Architects and our team for the Owasso Okla. Fire Dept. The 10-acre campus integrates a new fire station, department headquarters facility and tactical training complex on a single site. 

Closer to our offices in metro Kansas City WSKF Architects has public safety projects under way in the Missouri communities of Lee’s Summit, Jefferson City, St. Joseph, Chillicothe and Randolph County, and in Kansas in Shawnee and Coffeyville. WSKF’s public safety portfolio now includes projects totaling more than $90 million in construction value.
