LOCATION:
Topeka, KS

WSKF Architects led a team to assess and make recommendations for the 52,000-SF facility in Topeka that houses a 600-employee call center serving veterans nationally. The scope of work spanned fact-finding, working with facility leadership to assess current space, workspaces, adjacencies, and other elements to arrive at space utilization recommendations and alternatives. Following the completion of the space planning project, WSKF led a large team, including civil, structural, MEP, IT/Voice data network specialists, hazardous materials, and estimating in developing a design for the renovation of the HRC. The scope of work includes preparation of construction documents and construction administration. The project is a large-scale redesign of the entire interior of the 52,000-SF U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs HRC to make it more functional and productive for the call center staff of 600. In addition to the interior redesign, the project includes MEP upgrades, energy efficiency upgrades, acoustics, new phone and data wiring, an upgraded fire alarm system, and modifications to the sprinkler system.
