Aging Well Senior Living

AgingWell is a local non-profit group with a vision to develop a distinctive new multi-care-level senior campus to serve residents in Junction City as well as draw residents from surrounding rural communities. Leaders of the group selected WSKF Architects for a master plan to guide a multi-year effort to develop assisted living, skilled nursing and independent living housing and support services in this community of 23,000 residents. The vision begins with the 52-acre site of scenic rolling prairie landscape in the Flint Hills. WSKF Architects engaged the AgingWell board to translate their vision for a campus that will serve local residents and stand out in the broader senior living market. 

The master plan includes 30,900 square feet (32 assisted living units in two buildings) and 45,000 square feet (60 units in five skilled nursing buildings). The master plan also includes 120 units of multi-story independent living apartments and 22 duplex units. The campus will offer a range of exterior and interior amenities. 

WSKF designed a custom Small Home concept for the skilled care units with residential-scaled kitchen, dining and living room with each of five buildings housing a dozen residents. “By prioritizing resident well-being through enhanced quality of life initiatives, optimizing resident-to-staff ratios for improved care delivery, and fostering a work environment that cultivates high levels of job satisfaction among caregivers, we aim to create a more fulfilling and rewarding experience for all.” explains Dalyn Novak, the principal leading the master planning team.
