This project included significant interior and exterior renovations to accommodate the owner’s intent to switch the old, new, and used car dealership buildings. The dealership is located on North Oak Trafficway, one of the busiest thoroughfares in Kansas City’s Northland area. Overall, the project included 12,050 SF of renovated space in both buildings and added space totaling 2,080 SF. The new car building now features an updated showroom, customer waiting lounge, service and parts area, offices, and administrative area. To improve the building’s energy efficiency, the design team added new window frames, high-efficiency solar reflecting glass, and an exterior insulation system to the building’s non-glazed elements. These elements added an extra R7 to the building’s envelope. The used car building showroom was updated along with the attached service area. The finished project gives the dealership a fresh, new look, makes the best use of the high-profile location, and improves energy efficiency and visibility into and out of the dealership.
