West Platte Fire Protection District Station No. 1

In designing this new 11,000-square-foot station, one of WSKF’s key considerations was its fit within the community of Weston, Mo., a river town filled with historic homes and buildings. The new station is situated in a high-profile location that’s the gateway into Weston along a high-traffic state highway. The new station was the first building in which new local standards for protecting the topography and unique character of the community were applied. WSKF’s design team worked closely with Fire District and City of Weston officials to ensure materials, setbacks, architectural style, elevation and other elements of the station met or exceeded the new standards. The station features four double-deep drive-through bays for fire and EMS apparatus, bunk space for eight, a training/community room, dayroom and kitchen and fitness facility. All of the goals of the project were met while delivering the project with a highly competitive cost per square foot.
