Kansas City Kansas Community College On Call Projects

As part of design services contract with KCKCC, WSKF Architects has served as campus architect, provided services and led design teams on a variety of projects across a campus serving more than 6,000 students. Projects have included assessment and design of a new campuswide integrated security system and other life safety upgrades. WSKF Architects also designed the new Dr. Michael E., Haan Police Academy and a storage addition to the campus fieldhouse.The 8,800-sq.ft academy includes large and small classrooms, offices for eight, driving simulation room, conference room, physical training room, outdoor training and agility course, breakroom, storage and other support space. The facility is used for training 20-30 new officers per year, recertification of 400 officers and hosting regionwide training sessions and law enforcement forums. The project was designed and is operated in collaboration with the Kansas City Kansas Police Department. The Academy is named in honor of a KCKCC instructor and Kansas City, Kan., reserve police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1978.
