Howard Hall Renovation
LOCATION:
Baldwin City, Kan.
SIZE:
8,000 Sq. Ft.
WSKF Architects led a team to renovate and repurpose Howard Hall (formerly Jolliffe Hall) to house Baker University’s Allied Health Care program. The Applied Health Sciences program prepares students for careers that include Sport Medicine, Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Cardiac Rehab, Nutrition and similar fields. Current enrollment is 110 students.
The 8,800-square-foot building was built in 1940. The project brought the facility up to current code standards, and reconfigured the space to meet Baker’s curriculum and program needs. Also assessing HVAC and building systems for upgrades.
The modernized facility includes classrooms, educational labs, administrative, and support spaces. The facility meets educational needs while reinforcing Baker’s history and honoring the alumni family that is funding the renovation.
The project includes continuing to build on enrollment growth and the quality of the student experience offered by the department.
