Staff and elected leaders of the Northland Regional Ambulance District
(NRAD) commissioned WSKF Architects to work with them on preliminary
design and costs for a new satellite station to serve the growing population
in their service area. NRAD covers 344 square miles in portions of Platte
and Clay counties in the fast-growing Northland area of metro Kansas City.
Our public safety designers engaged NRAD leaders and staff to define
space and functional needs for the new station. Also the siting of the
station on a triangular plot the district has purchased for the new station.
The resulting preliminary design includes two bays to house up to four EMS
rigs, a decontamination area off the bays, bunk space for four, dayroom/
kitchen, a training room seating up to 35 with an adjacent kitchenette and
storage space, administrative offices and other support spaces.
The station layout reflects NRAD operational protocols, functionality and
promoting turnout efficiency. The station would be NRAD’s fourth serving
the Northland.
